Sara Bareilles is a modern-day Carole King. She possesses a charming ease in her performances, crafted around her precise songwriting skills and songbird-like vocals. In a brand new acoustic performance, Bareilles lets things go with her "I Choose You" for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon backstage in the studio's music room.

Cut in Instagram fashion, the performance is a split-scene experience, offering fans different angles as the singer plucks away at her hit song. The tender ballad is lifted from Bareilles' Grammy Award-nominated album The Blessed Unrest, which also features her smash anthem "Brave."

Upon the project's release last summer, it moved 68,000 copies, landing the chanteuse at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. This follows the 90,000 start for her previous effort, 2010's Kaleidoscope Heart. “Damn. The blessed unrest is #2 on Billboard top 200,” she had tweeted following the news. “I'm soooo grateful. Thank you to my incredible fans. Yowza.”

In support of the new music, Bareilles embarked on a tour with OneRepublic.

"I felt antsy when thinking about coming from the same angle [with this album]," she says. "Like, 'OK, I'm going to sit down at the piano and write some songs, then I'll pick a producer.' The whole methodology being a mirror image of what had come before just wasn't feeling exciting," she revealed to Billboard prior to the album drop.

With the set, she challenged herself to reach outside the pool of her usual collaborators. She explained of working with fun.'s Jack Antonoff, "I was introduced to Jack through Sara Quin of Tegan & Sara," Bareilles says. "We met for breakfast one day, and I was just so enamored with him and his personality... The first day we sat down together was the day we wrote 'Brave.'"
