Lorde Announces 2014 Australian Tour

The 17-year-old New Zealander became a household name in 2013, hefted by the smash success of her single "Royals," lifted from her debut album Pure Heroine. In support of her music, Lorde will head overseas to Australia for a slew of dates, kicking off April 24 at the Festival Hall in Melbourne. She will later hit stages in Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane.
"I'm so pumped," the singer told Triple J Breakfast on Monday (March 10) of the new prospects. "I've only played the smaller clubs in Australia and the festival [circuit]. I'm ready to play my own shows in large venues".
She added, noting a significant upgrade in her tour production, "It's definitely a step. We've really stepped up our production and light show; it's a whole new thing now. I don't want to give anything away, but it's pretty special."
Pre-sale tickets will be made available to Frontier Members only, beginning on Thursday, March 13 at 2 p.m. AEST and ending 24 hours later. The general public tickets will open up on Friday, March 21 at 9 a.m. local time.
Of course, Lorde doesn't plan on slowing down on the music-making side of things, with a new album already in the works. “I’ve been writing but I haven’t really had time to hit the studio as of yet,” she told Billboard last winter. “That’ll be the end of this year, or next year."
Lorde's eclectic "Royals" tore down records last year when the song stood at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a remarkable two months. She became the first New Zealand solo artist to achieve chart-topping success. Also, the song reached the summit of the Alternative Songs chart, the first solo female to do so in 17 years.
The upcoming tour will be promoted by Frontier Touring and supported by Triple J and Spotify.
