Avril Lavigne Joins Backstreet Boys' Extended U.S. Summer Tour

The Backstreet Boys are relishing in the blockbuster success of last year's In A World Like This Tour. To celebrate, they have extended the extravaganza with a slew of U.S. dates this summer, kicking off at the WaMu Theater in Seattle, Wash.

Joining them on the road is the pop-punk rocker Avril Lavigne as the opening act on 23 concerts spanning the country and two-months on the road. It's just a little bit complicated these days for the singer, whose 2013-released self-titled album failed to drum up enough buzz for a solo venture or a hit single on the radio charts.

"We really wanted to put together a great show and do our best to give everyone their money's worth," boy bandmate Brian Littrell said in an official statement on Friday (March 14). "Avril is an unbelievably talented artist who's a perfect fit to make these shows extra special for our fans."

On Good Morning America, the group got in the musical spirit. "Due to overwhelming demand on Facebook and Twitter... 'Backstreet's back, alright!'" the '90s group sang to millions of viewers.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, March 21. The Boys will perform a collection of dates in Canada before returning to the States. Pre-sale tickets are now available.
